A bridge is not just about connectivity, it is often a symbol of creativity, and the identity of the place. Construction of bridges – whether over rivers and valleys, or above busy cities – has rapidly increased over the past decades. The field of bridge engineering presents large scope for civil engineers, yet it is a specialized field. The Bachelor level course of civil engineering (and even Master’s level course in structural engineering at most universities!) does not sufficiently impart the knowledge and skills needed to work in bridge construction. Intensive trainings are needed to equip new engineers, and to update experienced engineers with the latest trends in this field. This workshop on design of RCC bridge using limit state method as per IRC 112-2020 is the best one available!

This workshop involves design of various parts of a reinforced concrete bridge, from concept to output. The whole process will be manual with hands-on involvement of each participant. Classroom discussions, homeworks and quizzes shall further enhance the sharing and gain of each participant. Underlying principles of concrete design shall be discussed and first principles will often be invoked. Discussions on a simple RCC T-girder bridge shall also provide the background to deal with other types of bridges in the future. The participants shall be more confident to verify the results of software design on one hand, and provide best solutions to field problems on the other.

Hence, this workshop is highly recommended to all bridge design consultants, client/government engineers, construction engineers/managers and interested graduates. Excellent teaching methodology is adopted. It really helped me to have crystal clear concept on analysis and design of bridge.
